Proper Etiquette with your Canine !

Doggie Etiquette Do’s & Don’ts

Many people are under the assumption when they get a dog that they will train themselves and just become “good dogs”

Owning a dog is a big responsibility and you as the owner need to take that responsibility seriously.  Lets go over a few things that many owners overlook.

  • Are you taking your dog for a walk or is your dog taking you?  Your dog should first and foremost always be on a leash. Neighbors will not take kindly to your dog prancing all over their front lawn and dancing in their flowers.

  • Where is your dog going to the bathroom?  There is nothing worse then walking your dog and stepping in a pile of you know what because the last owner walking did not clean up after their dog!  Always carry a scooper pooper or at least a baggie to clean up after your dog

  • Not all dogs are friendly!  Even if you think that your dog would never bite a person or another dog it is best to keep your dog close to you when approaching strangers.  You will be liable if your dog bites someone and there’s a good chance this will result in a lawsuit.
  • You may love it when your dog jumps on you and gives you love however not everyone enjoys this!  Besides the fact that this represents bad manners, they could get hurt if your dog knocks them over.

  • Be a conscientious house guest!  It may be ok if your dog jumps on your furniture at home but be aware this is not always the case at other’s homes.

  • Keep your shots up to date.  If you are going socialize your pet either at doggie daycare or dog parks make sure that your pet is up to date on all their shots for their protection and for those they come in contact with.

About the Book

Thinking about taking your Dog to Doggie Daycare or even Starting One?

Proven Techniques based on a Successful Doggie Daycare

I wrote Doggie Daycare 101 soon after I sold my last daycare. There were many challenges opening our facility. The concept of Doggy Daycare was not welcomed by many because of old-fashioned beliefs. Many people including veterinarians thought it was not a good idea, and it took a long time to convince them otherwise. We had to prove that it could be possible to have a center where 40-50 dogs could play at a time and there would not be fighting, nor would it be a breeding ground for disease. Doggie Daycare 101 covers daycare soup to nuts. Some of the topics included are: Feasibility studies, Business planning, Staffing, Design Layout, Marketing and Daycare software suggestions. This book is chock full of information to help you make an informed decision if this business is for you. I stayed honest throughout the book of my experiences and challenges, because there were many. I wish I had a book like this to read before I got started!....Read MoreDoggy Daycare
